John C. Bushnell, 89,

John C. Bushnell, 89, of Milford, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024 in his home.  He was the husband of the late Jean M. (Chaplin) Bushnell who passed away  in 2023.  He was born in Danbury, Connecticut, son of the late John and Mary (Espitee) Bushnell.  He graduated from Milford High School in 1953.  After high school John entered the United States Navy.  He was trained in sonar operation and worked as a sonar operator aboard the U.S.S. Richard E. Kraus DD849.After completing his service in the Navy John returned to Milford and worked at Stylon Corporation and met and married the love of his life Jean.  He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. 

He worked for the U.S Department of Defense, Department of Supervisors of Shipbuilding, as a Fire Control Supervisor.  He retired from this position in 1992.  John and Jean lived in Norwood for 42 years.  They traveled extensively in the United States and Europe.  After selling their home in Norwood they traveled throughout the U.S. for a year and a half.  After exploring the country they resettled in Milford. 

He is survived by his children Douglas Bushnell of Lakeland, FL and Barbara Jean Smith of Milford, his two sisters Elizabeth Pasquantonio of Franklin and Helen Melin of Hopedale, two Godchildren Susan Taft and Richard Melin, and many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by three brothers - Frederick Bushnell of Connecticut, Harold F. Bushnell of Upton, and George Bushnell of Hopedale. 

A calling hour will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home Inc. 46 Water St. Milford MA.  A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10A.M in the St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Winter Street.  The burial will follow at Hopedale Village Cemetery on Mendon St. Hopedale, MA.

Uncle Jack was a wonderful, and talented man he will be missed. My condolences to the extended family I have many good memories of times spent with him and aunt Jean. Now they are together again. They will always be happy and in our thoughts.
