Joao M. Rosa, 93, of Milford, where he has lived for 54 years, died Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Ana Maria (Pinto) Rosa, who passed in 2008.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Joaquim M. and Ana (DosSantos) Rosa. He moved to Portugal at the age of 9, and returned in 1959.
He worked as a machinist for most of his life at Rockwell International in Hopedale, and at Stamp It Corp. in Milford. He also worked at the Chateau de Ville in Framingham.
A former member of the Milford Portuguese Club, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising rabbits, and making wine.
He was the father of Maryane Rosa (Smith) Mainini and her husband Peter of Uxbridge, Michael J. Rosa and his wife Celina of Uxbridge, and Kenneth J. Rosa and his wife Nicole of Milford. Grandfather of Jessica Rosa, Jennifer Rosa, Michael Rosa, Meaghan Smith, Anthony Smith, Samuel Rosa, Lucas Rosa and Noah Rosa. Brother of Manuel Rosa of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the late Precinda (Rosa) Mendes. Also survived by many brother and sister in laws, and nieces, nephews.
His funeral will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St., in Milford, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12 Noon at the St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church on Winter St. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
