Wendell (Chuck) Rowe, 91, formerly of Douglas, Carver and Bellingham, passed away peacefully at the Milford Regional Medical Center on August 14, 2022 surrounded by his children. Chuck was predeceased by his beautiful wife Dina (Bracci) Rowe and is survived by his loving children Wendy and her husband Edward Trinidad of Douglas, Ernest Rowe and his wife Danielle of Douglas, Jay Rowe of Bellingham, five granddaughters, Kaleigh Rowe, and Olivia Rowe of Milford, Dakota Rowe, Kendra Rowe, and Cassidy Rowe of Douglas, and his great-granddaughter Shayla Rowe of Milford and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Chuck is the son of the late Ernest and Edna (DeWitt) Rowe of Carver Ma and is survived by his three sisters, Mrs. Edna (Rowe) Serocki of Kittery ME, Mrs. Sandy (Rowe) Dwyer of Bellingham and Mrs. Sheila (Rowe) Macintosh of FL.
Chuck joined the US Airforce in 1950 and served during the Korean War. He also was installed as Commander of the Bellingham VFW Post 7272 in 1968. Chuck met the love of his life Dina at a dance as they spotted each other from across the room. They both noticed the other could dance as well. They fell in love and married December 8, 1957. Dancing became their passion as they would enjoy many more dances to come throughout their lives.
Chuck worked a variety of jobs during his early years which included painting, insurance and retail. He began working at ITT Continental Bakery located in Natick Ma in 1969 and remained until his retirement in 1988.
Chuck enjoyed a variety of sports such as softball where he played in the Men’s over 30 softball league. Also, a bowling enthusiast, Chuck joined the Misfit Bowling League from the Milford Hospital. He made his debut on primetime television as he appeared on the television show Candlepins for cash. Chuck was an avid Nascar fan and a devoted New England Patriots fan. In his later years he enjoyed golf, Bocci ball and trips to Plymouth harbor. He enjoyed spending time in his shed building bird houses and making sports plagues. High spirited, funny, big hearted, passionate are just a few of Chuck’s attributes. He was first to help anyone in need. He will be terribly missed by those who loved him and all whose lives he touched. Just like his idol Frank Sinatra, Chuck did it “his way.”
A funeral home service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 10 A.M. at the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St. Milford. The burial will follow in the Hopedale Village Cemetery in Hopedale Ma.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. and Thursday morning from 8:30 to 10 A.M. prior to funeral home services.
