Maria Goncalves (Costa) Pinto, 101, of Milford Ma. passed away peacefully surrounded by her immediate family on February 15, 2021. She was the wife of her predeceased husband Antonio T. Pinto. Maria was born in Donões Montalegre, Portugal on November 11, 1919. Daughter of late Jose Goncalves Costa and Ursula Goncalves de Igreja. She was raised in Portugal, married in November 1957, and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1966 where she has since resided. She was proud to become a US citizen in 1973. A strongly devoted Catholic, Maria was a parishioner of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church for over 55 years. Never missing services until she was physically unable to attend mass, but always giving daily prayers to our Lord and was particularly devoted to our Blessed Mother of Fatima. Maria enjoyed cooking, gardening, and worked crafting leather textiles at Porter and Milford Shoe Co. until her retirement in 1983.
In addition to her loving husband, Maria is predeceased by her brothers Monsignor João Costa of Vila Real Portugal, Antonio Costa of Donões Portugal, and Joaquim Costa of Milford Ma. Maria is survived by her brother Jose G. Costa of Milford Ma, her three sons: Jose D. Pinto and his wife Dianne M. Pinto of Milford Ma, Antonio L. Pinto of Hopkinton Ma., Gino A. Pinto and his wife Grace Pinto of Milford Ma. Maria is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Michael A. Pinto of Sunnyvale California., David J. Pinto of Madrid Spain, Mark C. Pinto of Milford Ma., Sabrina M. Pinto of Milford Ma., Diego A. Pinto of Hopkinton Ma., Jason G. Pinto of Milford Ma., Nina G. Pinto of Milford Ma. and Daniel A. Pinto of Milford Ma. and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water Street, Milford MA, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church on 17 Winter St. Milford, MA. The burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery on Cedar St.
