Michael E.”Mick” Griffin 74 of Hopedale, formerly of Douglas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday January 4, 2021. Mick was born on May 28th, 1946 in Framingham, MA. Mick is a Veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. During his service he earned numerous medals including two purple hearts, the Presidential Unit Commendation Ribbon with 1 bronze star, The Gallantry Cross Medal with Palm, Civil Actions Medal, Rifle Expert Badge as well as others. After his active time in the USMC he worked for the US Post office as a letter carrier in Worcester.
Mick loved his family especially creating memories with his grandchildren. He was a gifted artist who often enjoyed painting. He was a humble person often times quiet and spent a great deal of time volunteering and helping others. He is preceded in death by the love of his life his wife Janice A. (McClosky) Griffin. Those left to cherish his memory include his children; Michael P. Griffin of North Carolina, Joseph E. Griffin and his wife Tasha of Hopedale and Marie Doyen and husband Ben of Douglas as well as his eight grandchildren; Sean, Zachary, Connor, Gabriella, Evan, Patrick, Matthew & Ben. Mick is preceded in death by both his parents Edward and Ann Griffin as well as his younger brother George. He is also survived by his two brothers; Daniel Griffin of Florida and Edward Griffin of Florida and three sisters; Terri Crane of West Natick, Maureen Gerrish of North Adams and Gail Nason of Boylston.

Calling Hours will be on Thursday January 7th between 5:00pm-7:00 pm at the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford Ma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Patrick’s Parish on Friday January 8th at 11:00 AM located at 22 Green Street Mosnon. The funeral mass will be followed with a graveside service at Bethany Cemetery in Monson, MA.
Note: Strict Covid protocols will be enforced at both the church and funeral home. These include wearing a face covering, social distancing of 6 feet, and no gathering indoors.
