Joseph E. Green, 87

Joseph E. Green, 87 of Milford, MA (formerly of Scituate MA and Portsmouth RI) passed away on March 17, 2020.  He was surrounded by his family.

Joe is survived by one son, Edward Green of Taunton, MA and daughter Jo-Anne Pironti, and her husband Robert of Milford, MA. Jon Gigowski, husband of Cynthia Gigowski (who passed April 2018) of Lakeview, MI.  And sadly, predeceased by his oldest daughter Linda in 2008.  He is also survived by many grandchildren, Lisa Thibodeau of Florida. Heather and Rob Pironti of MA, Cristal Gigowski of Chicago and Megan Gigowski and Jamie (Jordan) Davis of Michigan. And two great grandchildren, Devin Batra and Cali Davis. He is also survived by his siblings Richard (Judy) Green, Don (Bea) Green of Scituate MA and Paul Green, Diane Green, both in Florida. He was predeceased by siblings, William and Robert Green and Elaine (Green) Altieri. There was nothing more important to Joe than being with his kids.  Whether it was spending the weekend on his boat, or just spending time visiting in their homes. He surely will be missed by his family!!

Joe proudly served in the US Navy in 1950 through 1953 on the crew of the US Ship Tweedy. Joe worked as a Brookline MA Police Officer in his younger years, then as a Teamster driving vehicle transport trucks for Anchor Motor Freight at GM in Framingham, MA. His passion was sailing.  He was a licensed Captain, teaching many others how to sail in Newport RI. He sailed along the East Coast from Maine to Florida for many years. He enjoyed sailing so much he lived aboard his boat, the Offset for more than 25 years.

A special thank you to Milford Regional Hospital staff for their compassion, kindness and support during his stay at the hospital.

Services will be held at Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home in Milford MA, at the convenience of the family, when this crazy world we are in settles down to some sense of normalcy!

Even though I didn't get to see Uncle Joe often, I loved him very much, he made me laugh. I was so glad to be able to see him, and my dad together before my dad passed away. It was a special visit. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family. I'm so very sorry. Love to the whole Green family from the bottom of my heart.
