James Arthur Cornacchia, 63, passed away at home on March 3, 2019. James was born in Framingham, MA on March, 3, 1956 and lived most of his life in Hopedale, MA. He married Susan (Quagliaroli) in 2001. They lived in South Kingstown, RI, since 2005. James was the son of Arthur J. Cornacchia and Dorothy M. (Murray) Cornacchia who both pre-deceased him in 2007. James earned his baccalaureate in U.S. History from Framingham State College, a Master of Arts in American History from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Library Science from Simmons College. He worked as a professional librarian for Raytheon Company since 1988, retiring in 2014 as Library Team Leader from Raytheon’s Portsmouth, RI, location. In 2015, James (along with his adored cats Libby and Zeke) accompanied his wife, Susan, to Germany where she held a civilian position with the United States Army. They returned to their home in Rhode Island in 2018.
James leaves behind his wife, Susan; his sister Frances (Cornacchia) Jencks, and her husband Robert, of Barnstable, MA; brother-in-law, Michael Quagliaroli, and sister-in-law, Teresa Quagliaroli of Enfield, CT; brother-in-law Donald Quagliaroli of Alabama; nephews Robert Jencks, Michael Jencks, and Gregory Beaudry; and nieces Christy Quagliaroli and Devon Ploof. In addition to many special family members and friends, James leaves behind beloved cousins David M. Durgin, and his wife Deborah, of Northborough, MA, and their sons Andrew and Jonathan. James’s family would like to express their gratitude to all of the family, friends and colleagues who have been sources of support and friendship.
A memorial gathering and service will be held on Saturday, March 16, from 10 am to noon at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, MA.
A luncheon gathering for friends and family, will take place after the service. James will be buried near his family in the Hopedale Village Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the American Cancer Society.
