Alfred C. Sannicandro, 91, a life long Milford resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Countryside Healthcare. He was the devoted husband of Lucy (Germagian) Sannicandro for 65 years.
Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marietta (D’Amlia) Sannicandro, and was educated in the Milford Schools.
A WWII, Army Veteran, he retired 15 years ago. He had worked at Scott Ahern Chevrolet in Milford, and Orlando Trucking in Framingham. He was a member of the ITAM Post 40 in Milford, past chairman of the Republican Town Committee, past member of the Fair Housing Committee, Memorial School and Stacy Middle School building committee, and former chairman of the Milford Housing Authority, of which he was appointed in 1957 by Gov. Christian Herter. He also enjoyed politics.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Alfred P. Sannicandro and his wife Marika of Milford, and his daughter Ellen M. Alfieri and her husband Russ of Mendon. Grandfather of Alexandra Grillo and her husband James, and Michael Alfieri. He was the brother of the late Michael and Anthony Sannicandro, and Christine Guerino.
His funeral will be celebrated on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 9AM from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening from 4-8PM.
