Edward V. Pomponio, 89, of Milford, passed away, December 12, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Marguerite M. (Bonina) Pomponio for 69 years. He was born in Milford, son of the late Edward and Bina (DiMatteo) Pomponio and lived in Milford before moving to Ft. Myers FL in 2007. He and his wife returned to live in Milford in 2013. He was a graduate of the Milford High school class of 1945 and also was a graduate of the Worcester Technical School in 1948. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Mr. Pomponio retired in 1993 from the former Timex Company in Ashland where he was employed as a product designer. He also was employed for General Electric in CT.
Mr. Pomponio was a musician and played with the Art Barsey Orchestra and Milford and Framingham concert bands.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Edward Pomponio and his wife Paula of Milford, Beth and her husband Arthur Russo of Milford, Deborah Harder of Milford, Donna Pomponio of Boston, one brother Louis Pomponio of Uxbridge, six grandchildren, Shawn Metcalf, Damian Russo, Gabriela Harder, Jill Baker, Jared Pomponio, Isabella Pomponio, six great-grandchildren, Travis Metcalf, Justin Metcalf, Gavin Metcalf, Autumn Pomponio, Honor Russo and Damian Russo, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Marci Metcalf and his brothers, Peter Pomponio and Frank Pomponio.
The funeral will be held Monday, December 18, 2017 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, MA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 A.M. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main St. The burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M.
