Raymond H. Lambert, 75

Raymond Henri Lambert, 75, of Milford, died on October 8 surrounded by his family.  A self-made man, Ray had a long career in the financial services industry.  Beginning as a teller at Attleboro Savings bank, he worked his way up, ultimately becoming president of Milford Savings Bank.  Later he was a successful small business owner of Check-X-Change in Worcester.  Ray was also a veteran, proudly serving his country as a captain in the US Army Reserves.  Of the utmost importance was his commitment to his family, faith and community. As a long-standing parishioner of St Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Milford, he volunteered for many activities including the church’s soup kitchen.  Throughout the years, Ray took various roles in different community organizations including the Order of the Masons, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, and the Rotary Club.  It cannot be forgotten that Ray played Santa for several years at the annual Catholic Charities Christmas Party. His loves included, spending time with his family, cooking, and reading a book a day.  He had a lifetime love of the outdoors to ride his bike, go hunting, cruise on his boat, tend to his garden and in the early days, go camping. He was known to enjoy a stiff Beefeater Martini and the exploits of Larry David.  Raymond leaves behind his wife Marie (Marques) Lambert, of Milford, his children Laurie (Lambert) Donovan and her husband Warren, of Northborough, Gregory Lambert and his wife Liaridis, of Worcester, Joanne (Lambert) Dufault and her husband Charles of West Springfield, Linda Morris of Milford, James Morris, and his wife Linda of Watertown, (late) David Morris, and Kelly Morris of Bridgewater.  He also leaves behind his sister Pauline (Lambert) Billingkoff and her husband Gary of North Attleboro, his brother James Lambert and his wife Sue-Ellen of Homestead, Florida, and his sister-in-law Virginia Lambert of North Attleboro.  He will be greatly missed by his 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.  Raymond is predeceased by his parents Edward Lambert Sr. and Annette (Thibodeau) Lambert, brothers Edward Lambert, Jr. and Robert Lambert.   The funeral will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 9 A.M from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 A.M. at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Winter St. The burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery on Cedar St. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. When Jimmy had his stroke I called Ray because I was so upset and Jimmy was taken to Mass General I don't know what I I would have done without Ray's hekp that day and the days after. His support and love I will never forget. We will miss him so much

Ray, my best man, at my wedding in 1969. I loved Ray Lambert! I am so happy to have known a man like Ray. From the very first time I met him back in July or early August 1968 , I felt I knew him already. He and Lu treated me so good from the start. The evening I met them at their home, Lu had just recently had brought Greg home. I asked to hold him and they allowed me too. Rays parents were there also and they became my friends also. Laurie was a real cutie then and of course Joanne was in the future. Ray had many friends. He was the type of person that you felt comfortable with really fast. He was highly intelligent. A self-starter and highly motivated. He made everyone feel comfortable talking with him. I used to go with him when a few times to Boston and area as he worked for MGIC to meet some of his clients. They absolutely loved him. He was a natural in the field of business. He was sincerely patriotic!!!! He loved serving in the Army. Sometimes on Sunday mornings years and years ago when I had stayed overnight, he and I would get up and play military songs, like the Army goes Rolling along. We laughed and laughed. He and I shared the dedication to military service. We both loved a beer back then and shared many. I deeply regret not having opportunity to see Ray these past decades. I have thought of him often. I know he is in heaven. I never say a person is in a better place, I am selfish and want all my deceased loved ones back here with no sickness with all of us. But, I smile when I think that I will see them one day in Heaven. I can’t wait! Ray was an inspiration to me and I don’t say that lightly. Back in the day, I thought of him in same way I thought of my brother. I suppose I still do! He gave me incentive to strive to be successful in whatever I chose to be. I am so glad God made he and his family a part of my life. I salute you! I Love You.
