Aida Alves (Da Silva) Sebastiao, 92, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Beaumont Rehabilitation in Westborough, MA, surrounded by her beloved family after a brief illness.
Born in Pinho, Portugal, Aida was the daughter of Angelina Teixeira and Jose Da Silva. On November 8, 1952, she married Manuel Sebastiao, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and hard work. They welcomed their eldest children Isilda and John before immigrating to the United States. In 1961, Manuel courageously came to the U.S. alone in search of a better future for his family. A year later, Aida and the children joined him, and the family was completed when they welcomed their youngest son, Jose.
Aida is survived by her son, John, and his wife Leslie Sebastiao of Uxbridge; her daughter, Isilda, and her husband Antonio D’Sousa of Milford; her cherished grandchildren, Mario D’Sousa and his wife Janelle of Northbridge, MA, Gregory Sebastiao and his wife Chantal of Framingham, MA, and Amanda Sebastiao and her fiancé Nathan of South Portland, ME; as well as four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Jose, in 1988.
Aida will be remembered as one of the kindest and most gentle souls you could ever meet. She had a remarkable gift for seeing the good in everyone and brought warmth and laughter to those around her. Over the years, she worked various jobs in the Milford area, including a decade as a stitcher at Milford shoe, but her favorite role was serving the students and staff at Milford High School, where she worked in the cafeteria for 18 years. Aida adored her coworkers, often laughing along when they teased her about how much she talked—even though she rarely did. When she did speak, her quick wit always brought a smile.
Above all, Aida’s greatest joy was her family. Her kindness, generosity, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
