Barbara (Lancia) Chase, 83 passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with kidney disease.
Barbara was born on October 30, 1941 in Milford, MA, the daughter of Louis and Dora (Tusoni) Lancia. Barbara was a proud and patriotic lifelong resident of Milford.
As a 1959 graduate of Milford High School, Barbara served on the high school reunion committee for many years. She had a fulfilling 40 year career at Waters Corporation, as a dedicated Executive Assistant in the engineering department, building and maintaining relationships with colleagues and external contacts.
Having raised four loving children, Barbara dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, always putting their needs above her own. Throughout her life Barbara embraced many joys including the love of travel, attending concerts and theater events, being a member of a bowling league and The Italian American Women’s Bocce League. She also enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends, getting together for weekly lunch dates with her classmates, as well as dog sitting for her many fur grandbabies and passing on her family jelly and cappelletti recipes.
Barbara enjoyed supporting all of her grandchildrens’ activities such as sporting events, fundraisers and raffles. Most recently she enjoyed the birth of her first great grandchild earlier this year.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Deborah A. Chase of Worcester, Darrell Chase and his wife Brenda of Plymouth, Scott Chase and his wife Lisa of Brimfield, Darcy Fallon and her husband Anthony of Millis. She is the proud grandmother of Kiley Digney and her husband William Digney, Allison Chase and Kristi Velko, Thomas Fallon and Eryn Rice, DJ Chase and Troy Chase and is the proud great grandmother of Callahan Digney.
She is predeceased by her sister Marie (Lancia) Lumenti of Massachusetts and survived by Louis Lancia and his wife Maureen of California and Geraldine Lancia and her husband Gary Fabiano of Arizona.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4 P.M to 7 P.M. at the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 A.M. Friday June 27, 2025, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 5 East Main St. The burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to Donate Life America @ donatelife.net. Barbara received a liver transplant as part of the Living Donor Donation Program at UMASS in 2012.
